Row E, St. Andrew’s, Birmingham
Beautiful, sunny winter’s day at St. Andrew’s made a big difference in terms of not half freezing to death at the football this year. Staring directly into the sun for the first half was less fun, but it did illuminate the stands in a really lovely light. St. Andrew’s looks really run-down and beaten up from the outside. From the inside it’s a little better, but it’s still a huge, bleak concrete edifice reminiscent (to me) of a smaller version of the old Wembley. This is the paint on the stairs right by where we were seated.
